Run club
Τρέχουμε μαζί
Saturdays at 07:30, at the main gate of the Kallimarmaro, on Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue. Free, for patients and neighbours alike. Three groups, and nobody runs alone.
Three groups
We set off together from the gate at half past seven, run the track on Ardittos hill and the streets around the stadium, and meet again at the steps.
Walk and run
One minute running, one walking, for 30 minutes
Beginners, and anyone coming back after an injury, an operation or a baby.
Easy
About 6:30 to 7:30 a kilometre, 5 to 7 kilometres
Runners who want company and a pace where you can still talk.
Steady
About 5:15 to 6:15 a kilometre, 8 to 10 kilometres
Regular runners. Hills on the last Saturday of the month.
How a Saturday goes
- 07:20
- Meet at the gate. Nikos checks who is new and how everyone’s legs are.
- 07:30
- Ten minutes of warm-up drills on the pavement, then off in three groups.
- 08:15
- Back at the stadium. Ten minutes of strength work on the marble steps: calf raises, step-ups, lunges.
- 08:30
- Oranges from the Saturday laiki, and coffee for anyone who wants to walk to the square.
Good to know
- It is free. You do not need to be a patient, and you do not need to sign up.
- Nobody is left behind: Nikos runs at the back of the last group.
- If it hurts during the run, tell whoever is leading. We would rather you walk back with us.
- In heavy rain or a heatwave warning we meet at the clinic instead, for a strength class.
- On Thursday evenings Myrto and Dafni run a return-to-running class for new mothers. Buggies welcome.

A niggle that keeps coming back?
Most running injuries come from doing a bit too much, a bit too soon. Our running assessment looks at your training, your strength and how you run, filmed on the same track.
