What it is
We numb the tooth and the gum around it thoroughly and wait until you are sure it is numb. Then the tooth is loosened and lifted out. Wisdom teeth sometimes need a small cut in the gum and a couple of stitches. We tell you beforehand what you will feel: pressure and pushing, but not sharp pain.
Before any extraction we explain what else could be done and what happens to the gap: nothing, a bridge, an implant or a denture, with prices for each.
Who it is for
Teeth that are broken below the gum, very loose, or badly infected; wisdom teeth that keep getting inflamed.
Does it hurt? Honestly
The extraction itself should not hurt, only push. The area is sore for two to four days afterwards, most on the second day. Painkillers you can buy at the pharmacy are usually enough.
Whatever we are doing, raise your left hand and we stop. How we work with nervous patients
Afterwards
- Bite on the gauze for thirty minutes.
- No rinsing, hot drinks, smoking or straws for the first day.
- Soft, cool food for the first day.
- From the next day, warm salt water rinses after meals.
- Call us if bleeding does not stop with firm pressure, or pain gets worse after day three.
