What it is
Bonding: we add thin layers of tooth-coloured material to the chipped edge, shaping and shading each one, then polish it so the repair is hard to see. Most chips need no anaesthetic at all. For bigger breaks we may suggest a veneer or a crown, and we will explain why.
Who it is for
People with a chipped, worn or slightly uneven front tooth. Children with a knocked tooth once it has settled.
Does it hurt? Honestly
Usually no anaesthetic is needed, because we are adding to the tooth, not drilling it.
Whatever we are doing, raise your left hand and we stop. How we work with nervous patients
Afterwards
- Avoid biting hard things with that tooth, like nuts in their shells or pens.
- Bonding can stain a little with time; a polish at your check-up freshens it.
