The map
At our gate. Turn left down the kalderimi and cross the stream.
This is the walk we send everyone on first, on the afternoon they arrive. It leaves from our gate, drops down the old cobbled mule path to the stream, and climbs gently into the beech forest on the far side of the valley.
The path was made by woodcutters and is wide and soft underfoot. After forty minutes you reach a clearing with a stone shepherd’s hut and a spring; this is where Kanela usually turns back. Carry on up to the ridge for the view of Tymfi, then come down the other side of the loop, past the chapel of Agia Paraskevi, to the village square.
In autumn the leaves are ankle deep and the light under the trees is orange. In winter, with snow, we lend snowshoes and come with you the first time.
What to take
Good shoes. A torch after four in winter. Nothing else; the spring is good to drink from.
Tell us the evening before and we will pack lunch, check the forecast with you and, if it is one way, arrange the lift.
