The map
At our gate, or at the square in Kipi if you would rather skip the first hill.
The Zagori has more than a hundred stone bridges, built by the villages and paid for by the merchants between 1750 and 1900, so that the mules could keep moving in winter when the rivers rose. Three of the finest are an easy morning from the house.
The path drops from Koukouli through oak and hornbeam to the river, and the first bridge you meet is the three-arched one, which everyone photographs, and should. From there follow the river bank downstream to the single, very high arch of the Kokkoris bridge, and then to the little Kontodimos bridge, hidden in plane trees.
Come back up to Kipi and take the village road home, or phone us and Petros will pick you up if you have had lunch at the taverna in the square.
What to take
Shoes you do not mind getting muddy. After rain, the river path can be under water; take the upper path.
Tell us the evening before and we will pack lunch, check the forecast with you and, if it is one way, arrange the lift.
