Careers

We are nine, and we would like to be ten or eleven, not twenty. When we hire, it is for a long time: most people here have been here more than six years.

We pay properly, including interns, we go home at half past four, and everyone does a bit of everything: survey, drawing, site, models.

    Architect, restoration and survey

    You will work with Sofia on the reading room in Rethymno and on two surveys in the old town of Chania: measuring, drawing, and following the repairs on site.

    We are looking for

    • Three to six years of experience, some of it on existing buildings
    • Registered with the Technical Chamber, or ready to register
    • Greek for the authorities and the site, English for the drawings
    • You can draw by hand, and you like to

  • Position 2 of 2

    Model-making internship

    Six months in the workshop with Stelios, making models for the market hall, two houses and our exhibition. You will leave knowing how to cut, cast and photograph a model.

    We are looking for

    • A student or recent graduate of architecture, design or joinery
    • Patience and steady hands
    • No software required

A week at the office

  • Hours

    08:30 to 16:30, Monday to Friday. Everyone goes home. We work late perhaps three times a year, before a competition, and take the time back.

  • Lunch

    At the long table at half past one. Someone cooks on Wednesdays; the rest of the week, whatever is in season at the market.

  • Fridays

    After two o’clock the whole office makes models in the workshop, whatever project they are on.

  • October

    The office trip: one building in the Mediterranean, visited at four hours of one day. Last year, a monastery in the Peloponnese.

How to apply

  1. Send a letter and a portfolio as one PDF, no more than twelve pages and 10 MB, to work@metopo.example.

  2. Include one drawing made by hand: a survey, a sketch on site, anything. It tells us more than the renderings.

  3. We answer everyone within three weeks. If we would like to meet, we will ask you to spend a paid day at the office, on a real project.
